Psychologists become the second regulated profession under the Health and Social Services Professions Act
The Regulation respecting the profession of psychologist came into force today, making psychologists the second profession to be regulated under the Health and Social Services Professions Act, which came into force in March 2022. Act allows the government to regulate many professions under one law.
The development of the regulations was informed by consultations with the Association of Psychologists of the NWT (APNWT), the Alberta College of Psychologists, all NWT health and social services authorities and other professional associations . The regulations include profession-specific requirements unique to psychologists, such as the education required to qualify for licensing, a code of ethics, and a continuing education program.
