P Mamata Banerjee marries AM Socialism: Tamil Nadu wedding invitation goes viral
A wedding invitation announcing the nuptials of a young couple has generated widespread buzz in Tamil Nadu. The names of the bride and groom – P Mamata Banerjee and AM Socialism – have left people wondering if the card is legitimate or altered. Additionally, the card also mentions the names of the groom’s older brothers – AM Communism and AM Leninism.
The couple’s family members have since confirmed that the card is real. The groom is the son of Lenin Mohan, known as A Mohan, district secretary of the CPI in Salem, Tamil Nadu. Mohan is also the Panamarathupatti City Councilor in Salem.
Talk to Indianexpress.com, Mohan explained the reasons his son was named and how their family continues the tradition. “After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, people said that communism had fallen and that ideology would not flourish anywhere in the world. There was a news clip on Doordarshan about it and at that time my wife gave birth to my oldest son. I immediately decided to call it communism because I believed that as long as the human race does not exist, communism will not fall, ”he said.
Mohan added that in the village of Kattur, where the majority of the population follows the path of communism, it is not uncommon to find people named Russia, Moscow, Czechoslovakia, Romania, Vietnam, Venmani, etc.
“Rulers, countries, ideologies – people name their children after that. I wanted to name my children after ideology. All three sons have the same name. The bride is also our relative. Her grandfather is a member of Congress who was very inspired by the actions of Mamata Banerjee and that is why he wanted to give his granddaughter his name. We all want our future generations to perpetuate our ideology. I named my grandson Marxism. In the future, if a girl is born into our family, I will name her Cubaism, ”Mohan added.
Since the family were unable to invite people for the wedding due to the Covid-19 pandemic, they chose not to print a physical invitation. Instead, they published the map in ‘Jana Sakthi’, the CPI’s Tamil spokesperson. They had done this once before when Mohan’s second son got married in 2016.
“The invitation was published in the newspaper on Monday. In the past three days, I have received over 300 calls. Everyone is so curious about the names of the bride and groom. Executives, friends and many media called me to check if the invitation is genuine, I was so irritated by so many people asking the same question, but then I got used to it, ”he said. he laughed.
When asked how the family reacted to the sudden buzz surrounding the wedding, he said everyone was happy that their names sparked so much enthusiasm.
“My sons are happy because everyone appreciates them having such names, unlike when they were younger. All of them studied in public schools. They’ve been humiliated, people tend to misspell their names. This continued until the end of their studies, but in college things improved. My oldest son studied law at Chennai University and the other two graduated with Bachelor of Commerce degrees. People listened to the backstory and were fascinated because we have followed this ideology for generations. “
The wedding is scheduled to take place on June 13 at the bride’s house in the village of Amanikondalampatti. CPI Secretary of State R Mutharasan and MP K Subburayan were also invited to the event.
