Man refuses to return ‘FCK BLM’ license plate despite city warnings
A Honolulu, Hawaii man refuses to give up a license plate with the words ‘FCK BLM’, a reference to the militant organization Black Lives Matter, written on it.
The license plate was first spotted in August 2021 and brought to the attention of city authorities. They recalled the plate, but the car would still run with the same plates, KITV4 reported on Friday.
Racism on the road? – Viewer reported seeing this license plate – FCKBLM or “f*** Black Lives Matter” – Of course, quick search for @HonoluluGov records show this plate was issued in Hawaii. It’s unclear how he got through the approval process @KITV4 #Black Lives Matter pic.twitter.com/TzZuTT09Hq

“We have sent three letters to the registered owner recalling the license plate. However, the registered owner has not returned the plate. CSD has suspended further renewals of his vehicle registration and his registration is now expired. HPD is able to quote the vehicle if used on the roads,” the Honolulu Customer Service Department told KITV4. The City and County of Hawaii told KITV4 that the license plate is “misguided oversight” because license plates with “FCK” or “FKN” are not permitted.
