BLM is looking for candidates for the Wyoming Resource Advisory Council
CHEYENNE – The Bureau of Land Management recently announced that it is seeking public applications for positions on the BLM Wyoming Resource Advisory Council. This citizen council develops recommendations for the BLM in order to resolve the problems of public land management.
“The Resource Advisory Boards and the individual members who participate in them are valuable assets to the BLM as we develop and implement land management strategies,” said Kevin Christensen, Acting Associate State Director of the BLM Wyoming. “Their advice and recommendations help guide our management of public lands, and we appreciate the hard work and commitment of all board members. ”
The BLM maintains RACs across the west, which are chartered under the Federal Advisory Committee Act and the Federal Policy and Land Management Act. The BLM Wyoming RAC holds seats for 10 members who represent various interests and areas of expertise in local communities across the state. Through meetings, recommendations and other cooperative work, BLM Wyoming’s RAC provides us with expert advice in support of our commitment to improving the quality of life for all citizens through balanced management. land and public resources.

Our RAC members represent three categories, with several positions representing each interest:
- Category 1: Representatives of energy and mineral development, federal grazing permits, timber industry, transportation and rights of way, off-road vehicle use, and commercial and landscaped outdoor recreation.
- Category 2: Representatives of archaeological and historical organizations, dispersed recreation, wild horse and burros management, and nationally or regionally recognized environmental organizations.
- Category 3: Representatives of the state, county or local elected office; Indian tribes in or near public lands; academic work on natural sciences and natural resource management; state agencies for the management of natural resources; and the general public.
This year, BLM Wyoming is seeking applications for two open positions in Category 2 and one open position in Category 3. Individuals can propose themselves or others to serve on the RAC. We will review the applicants, who must be residents of Wyoming, based on their training, education, and knowledge of Wyoming land and public resources. Applicants must also demonstrate a commitment to consensus building and collaborative decision making. All applications should include reference letters from interests or organizations represented, a completed application and any other information regarding the applicant’s qualifications.
