What Is WOFlink?

WOFlink is an unmoderated discussion list hosted at Yahoo!groups. It currently has about 75 members, but is fairly low-traffic. I use it for announcements and to post new installments; it's also a place for discussion about WOF, fantasy and science fiction, books, writing, women's issues, and many other things.

Who Can Join?

Anyone over 18 who has read (and, presumably, enjoyed) Taken Child. Some of our members are still working their way through the series, but if you haven't at least finished TC by the time you sign up the chances are excellent that someone will accidentally ruin the plot for you. I approve all membership requests, so if I don't recognize your name or email address I will ask you to tell me who you are and how you got a hold of the books. I reserve the right to refuse membership to anyone I consider a potential troll.

What's In It For Me?

Aside from late-breaking news about the wonderful world of WOF, joining WOFlink gives you access to:

• The WOF CD-ROM. Laura, Carolyn, and Siubhan put this thing together out of the goodness of their own hearts and it is FABULOUS. Includes PDF files of all four novels plus illustrations, glossary, list of characters, the preface to the collectors' edition of Darkness Bright, and MP3s and pictures of the Women On Fire reading at Worldcon 2000. All burned onto a shiny new CD-ROM with Carolyn's wonderful cover art. You have to pay $8.00 to cover Laura's production and mailing costs, but it's worth it.

• Shared Files. This is a motley assortment of WOF-related stuff that for some reason doesn't make it to the website. Includes WOF-inspired art and graphics by WOFlinkers and works in progress.
• Comprehensive list of character names
• Complete Old Tongue glossary
• The prefaces to the collectors' edition of Darkness Bright and the CD-ROM
• The Better To Burn answer key (find out who it is that Lythril's talking to, and how we can tell)

Go to the WOFlink Page at Yahoo!groups and follow the instructions for subscribing. If you're not already a member of Yahoo!groups you will have to create an account. Membership in yahoo!groups is free, as is membership to WOFlink.
