The Tales

Over the years I have written a few shorter things based on the Women On Fire universe and characters—usually with a view to trying to sell them. It never worked, so I’m posting them here. Please be advised that with the exception of “Safe Home,” all of these stories contain MAJOR spoilers for the novels. If you have not read the novels, you shouldn’t even be here. Go read everything listed on this page and then come back here.

SAFE HOME. Istria tells a story about her first childhood encounter with spirits—and with shri.

FOR TWO. Revisits a particularly dark time in the life of one of the trilogy’s major characters, and sheds some light on the origins of another. Contains MAJOR spoilers for Taken Child, Another Country, and Darkness Bright. It also contains minor spoilers for Redemption.

HOMESWEPT. The survivors of one of the worst atrocities of the Ideiren civil war discover, when they try to re-settle their town, that the dead are not gone. Theamh is called out to help, and discovers that peacetime presents its own challenges. Contains MAJOR spoilers for Taken Child, Another Country, and Darkness Bright.

TALES TOLD BY LOVERS, CHAPTER ONE: QALATIL. A story from Naralan ‘mythology’ as retold and reinterpreted by two characters who are never explicitly identified. Contains spoilers for Redemption.

HOT TIME IN THE OLD TOWN. A completely frivolous WOF/Batman crossover. And when I say “Batman,” I mean Adam West. Lythril takes a trip to Gotham City. Hilarity ensues.
